We got a chance to check ?UESTLOVE do his DJ thing a year or so back at the Standard in Hollywood and in all honestly we were prepared to be disappointed. It’s rare that the crossover DJ thing works but if you’re gonna give anyone the benefit of the doubt it would be ?uestlove. Dude is a bad ass drummer and has the hair to match. What is there to hate on?
When we first walked in we kept the hate alive though when we saw ?uest DJing from his laptop and a Serato box. What can we say? We’re purists around here at MM!!! offices. Even if we’re the only idiots still carrying 80 lbs. of wax onto airplanes anymore.
But, like a rack of ribs roasting in a BBQ, we slowly turned sweet on ?uest and his DJ apparatus. He was bringing some killer cuts and his skills were impeccable. Then, at one point, his hype man turned to the crowd in the middle of doing his thing yelled into the mic “SKITTLES!!!!“. At that point we officially lost it and became huge huge huge fans. Skittles??? Hell yeah, skittles!!!!
