I’m a big fan of baile funk–booming bass, pounding drum beats, berimbau, sex moan samples–it’s obvious Brazilians know how to party, take it from these ladies. In a culture that so covets the ass (thongs, Brazilian waxes, etc.), it’s all about the popozuda.

Not quite sure where I found this “Baile Mix,” but discovered it was by H, a French DJ with the Je Suis Freakish crew. Boy knows his baile, and he does some pretty seamless/creative mixing with a few of my favorites from MIA, Bonde Do Role, Count & Sinden, and all those unknown artists from Diplo’s favela compilations. He even throws in some random pop hits–I never thought Outfield’s “Your Love” could turn baile funk, but I guess I was wrong. Looks like the French are getting down these days too.

If you’re like me, you’ll get all hyped and try to sing along, which ends up sounding like a mixture of shouting nonsense and random Spanish words…maybe I should learn some Portuguese…maybe I should just stick to dancing. Back it up, make it bounce.
