I’ve been a substitute teacher for over a year now and I can say with confidence that subs are straight hustlers. I personally partake in a number of hustles as do my sub peers…we’re talking artists, actors, musicians, freelance whatevers all basking in the freedom of the substitute lifestyle. And you can be sure regular teachers get their hustle on too when school gets out; I performed in a fly girls style dance duo with a high school English teacher-Dostoevksy by day, dance diva by night.
So after a year of friendly hellos and small talk on the school yard, the secret life of one teacher was revealed to me: passing by each other at lunchtime one afternoon I noticed and complimented his DFA shirt…knowing glances were exchanged, further investigation was in order. We chat later and lo & behold, he’s a DJ, a good one. By day he assists a kid in need of some extra attention, by night he is DJ NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. Wow, he even teaches while partying…do your slipmats have world maps on them?
